Okay, so most people know I really admire Sic-Puppy from dA.

Well, she recently had a thing where you could sign up and join her characters' rat mischief. Or, well, you could add one of your characters to it.

I missed it, partially due to being busy and partially due to this weird apathy I've been fighting lately.

And I'm... well, kind of broken-hearted about it. Her characters are very "topical" insamuch as they often have backstories involved in real-life forms of rat research and... well, most don't know it, but there's a pseudo-Yorua character (Yorua is very felxible and likes to contribute to (become) all kinds of characters, including the unused rabbit character Nine who this... came from.) Yorua/Nine was derived from the gender studies they used to do on animals (and still do) with in vitro hormone injections and the like. Nine/Yorua is a female rat who was given male hormone treatments not just in the womb but out of it. She's summarily very aggressive, not unlike a dominating "alpha" type male rat... as in the type of male rat who frequently chases off others and makes frequent dominance bids. she has (because of me being me) very realistic (but badly done) hooded markings, typical of a lot of lab rats. Her "hood" is large enough to make her predominantly black, though, with white belly and hindquarters.

I really think (or I want to think) Sic-Puppy would appreciate the effort and realism but I guess... well, I fucked up and missed my chance with her.

I just wish I wasn't my own dumbfuck fault.

She would have made a great "soldier" of the mischief.

FUCKING HELL I DONT' EVEN KNOW WHAT I WANT TO DO ABOUT IT EXCEPT CURSE AND HATE MYSELF A LOT.

Y HALO THAR SSRIDS.

WHASSUP.

Seriously, if my mother doesn't send me my medication soon, I'll be missing Monday classes and I'm not apologising if she yells at me for it. (Okay, I will be apologising, but I will be a mite ticked. I already have the headache and tingling fingers. A little disoriented too.)

SO. In an attempt to cheer myself up, a list of my top five male PW characters:

Ron DeLite
Miles Edgworth
Matt Engarde
Damon Gant
Manfred Von Karma

Were I continue, it would go...

Godot
Phoenix Wright (I like him but he's a main character... uh... yeah...)
Juan Corrida
Yanni Yogi
Frank Sahwit (DON'T JUDGE ME. I ALMOST PUT RICHARD WELLINGTON.)

Top ten characters period are

Franziska von Karma
Ron DeLite
Miles Edgeworth
Adrian Andrews
Matt Engarde

Damon Gant
Manfred von Karma
Dahlia Hawthorne
Godot
Phoenix Wright

Top five female characters... is a bitch to do, but...

Franziska von Karma
Adrian Andrews
Dahlia Hawthorne
Morgan Fey (SHADDUP)
Ini/Mimi Miney.

I'm considering making the exodus to IJ. The problem is that a wealth of icons is not really a necessity for me... I still have ten icons that cover MOST of what I tend to express anyway. The real issue is keeping in touch. Splitting my time between blogs is not an option.

So I'd either have to have the majority of the people I know move with me or simply suffer losing Delcat, something I'd really rather avoid at all costs. (Delcat is dear to me, the idea of completely losing track of her blog is therefore distasteful.)

Who is moving, if anyone?

Who is dead-set on staying?

When did referring to a game or anime/manga by its Japanese title become a sign of snobbery? I realise I'm a little old-school, and when I was less of a hermit (basically, when I had Quatre to drag me around) I know it used to just generally be considered respectful to do that, especially if the English name was dumb. But lately, for some reason, this has become a serious offence. I (out of a bad habit) refer to the Phoenix Wright games as Gyakuten Saibon... maybe 60% of the time, if I'm writing. I don't really have any excuse for this, since I'm just fine with the English rendition of the game, unless you count the fact that I've been waiting for the third game for a year, during which time it was generally known as GS3. And to be frank, Gyakuten Saibon is more interesting for me to say. Not much in the way of reasoning, but habit is habit. And I learned to call things by their Japanese name, so that's what I do. Anyway, as someone who genuinely IS a snob for most things, I find it really interesting that me calling something by its Japanese name gets me called an elitist... but that immediately dismissing someone's favourite book or breaking into a frothing rage at Christopher Paolini does not.

I understand social expectations are unreasonable, but when they make me laugh, it's probably a bit far.

What else generally gets considered snobbery these days?

And what are your opinions on regressive titling (i.e. calling things by their original name, as per my habit)?

I am so happy I could cry! (Not quite spoilery but just in case, don't read.) Jan. 3, 2008 :: 3:28 pm
THE SECOND DAY OF THE INVESTIGATION HAS MADE ME SO HAPPY.

I have so far:

Rediscovered my ties to Edgeworth
Rediscovered why I love Franziska so damn much

And...

The former ambivalence I was feeling about Godot has been erased. The views he's personally expressed about his body and especially his mask have won me over entirely. His simultaneously serious and yet abruptly playful nature is too fascinating for me to resist. (Don't get the wrong idea, please.)

And I'm not even done with the goddamn day yet.

WHEN DID THEY START SPELLING FRANZISKA'S NAME WITH A "K?!"

Has it always been this way?!!?!?

WHY DIDN'T ANYONE CORRECT ME?

I can't believe I missed it all this time!!! This is the worst mistake I've made in... I don't know how long!

Or were they just inconsistent?!

An armoury in the basement? Dec. 31, 2007 :: 2:20 pm
So I'm pretty sure I've brought this up before, but just in case:

Has anyone else noticed that everyone raised in the von Karma household has a personal weapon? Franzisca has that whip, Edgeworth has the knife, and I'm pretty sure we're all familiar with elder von Karma's taser. It makes me wonder what Franzisca's older sister carries.

A broadsword, maybe?

Anyway, that aside, the fifth case is more than making up for that fourth case from hell. I'm enjoying it thoroughly, and I'm positive the two people I know who play (Delcat and Aven) will enjoy it quite a bit as well. Of course, as we all know, this game is also a goodbye to most of the characters we've grown to love. With all luck, though, the lively spirit of the game will be left intact for the fourth. Here's hoping Mr. Odoroki doesn't disappoint.

(P.S. I won't miss Larry.)

Happy New Year, all you North American people out there. (Can't wait for the year of the pig to be over, though.)

Non Spoilery GS3 Dec. 25, 2007 :: 5:32 pm
SO I HAVE GS3.

This makes me a happy Raile.

Now to talk a bit about it. For reference, I'm on part 4-1 of the second trial (just started it) and I know what happened and how.

Godot is... strange. Not a bad strange, but definitely strange. (I laughed when the judge called him Gobo, though. I think maybe three people who read this will know why.) He gets off topic a lot. A lot a lot. He seems to be off in his own world sometimes, in regards to what's appropriate and what's not. In all fairness, he at least manipulated Phoenix very well. What's up with the super-deep voice, though?

And I am an unexpected fan of Ron DeLite. He's so charmingly peculiar! And he's certainly unique. I never would have expected him to snag me so QUICKLY. Oh well, you like who you like.

I still say Mask DeMasque's design is silly.

Welcome back Adrian, when did you become a screwball?

And finally: OMG. GS3.

EDIT: Godot, you're a freak. I love you, but you're a freak. Strange, strange man.

And I can sum up GS3 so far with five words: Couples and the colour red.
